GARBAGE TARS MARSA ALAM'S IMAGE

This collection of photographs taken outside a Marsa Alam hotel, showing an area  of coastline threatened by garbage accumulation, is an update of an earlier article posted in November 2010.   Since the photographs in the earlier article were taken some areas have been greatly improved but as these photographs show, as of April 2011 there was still substantial amounts of litter of various types strewn across the locality.     I hope that the appropriate government authority can investigate soon and rectify this situation.  I investigated the area again in May 2011 and although some places close to the north wall had been further improved there were still large amounts of garbage in the area.  I have many photographs from that visit but they are not included here.  I do not know what the situation is like now.

I am clearly  not making any suggestion about who might be to blame  for the dumping.   Hopefully the Environment Ministry or other appropriate government authority can investigate and visit the site and draw their own conclusions as to whom may be responsible from the photographic evidence  and any evidence they may find on site and interviews of any potential witnesses.

outside a Marsa Alam hotel taken in April 2011.  An edition of Ahram newspaper of 7 April 2011  has been included in many of the photographs as evidence that they couldn't have been taken earlier.   I am not sure what the situation is like now.
